Reorder PDF Pages
Rearrange the pages of a PDF by dragging live page previews into the order you want, then downloading the result. Each thumbnail is labelled with its new position and a small tag showing which page it originally was, so a swap is easy to confirm at a glance. Everything runs in your browser with pdf-lib, so the file never leaves your device and the page content is copied without re-encoding.
How to reorder PDF pages
- Drop a PDF onto the drop zone, or click it to browse for a file.
- Wait a moment while the page previews render, tracked by the progress bar.
- Drag any page thumbnail and drop it where you want it in the grid.
- Check the blue badge for the new position and the 'was' tag for the original page.
- If previews cannot render, type an order like 3, 1, 2 in the text box instead.
- Click 'Reorder and download' to save the new PDF with a -reordered suffix.
Examples
Move the last page of a 4-page PDF to the front
Drag page 4 onto the first slot
New order 4, 1, 2, 3 (page 4 leads, the rest follow)
Reverse the first and last of a 3-page PDF
Drag page 3 to slot 1, page 1 to slot 3
New order 3, 2, 1
Text fallback on a 5-page PDF when previews fail
Type 3, 1
New order 3, 1, 2, 4, 5 (unlisted pages appended in order)
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The whole reorder runs in your browser with pdf-lib, and the page previews are drawn locally too. The file never touches a server, so confidential contracts, statements and reports stay on your device.
How do I rearrange the pages?
When previews load, drag any page thumbnail and drop it onto the slot you want. The grid updates instantly, the blue badge shows the new position, and the 'was' tag shows the page's original number so you can verify the move.
What if the page previews do not render?
Some PDFs cannot be rasterized in the browser. When that happens the tool switches to a text box where you list the page numbers in the order you want, such as 3, 1, 2, separated by commas or spaces.
What happens to pages I do not list in the text box?
They are never dropped. Any page you leave out is appended after the ones you typed, in ascending original order, so typing 3, 1 for a 5-page file produces 3, 1, 2, 4, 5 and keeps every page.
Does reordering reduce quality or change the content?
No. Pages are copied as-is into a fresh file in the order you chose, with no re-encoding. Text stays selectable and images and vector graphics are untouched, so there is no quality loss.
What does the downloaded file get named?
The tool inserts a -reordered suffix before the extension, so report.pdf downloads as report-reordered.pdf. Your original file is left exactly as it was.
Can I open a password protected PDF?
Only if it opens without a password in a normal viewer. Files that demand a password to open cannot be read here, and the tool shows a message that it could not read the PDF.
Is there a limit on page count or file size?
There is no fixed limit, but rendering previews for a very large PDF takes memory and time, shown by the progress counter. If your device struggles, use the text box order instead, which skips the preview rendering.
Can I reorder several PDFs at once?
No. This tool works on one PDF at a time. Click 'New PDF' to clear the current file and start again, or use a merge tool first if you need pages combined from multiple documents.
