Add Page Numbers to a PDF

Stamp page numbers onto every page of a PDF. Choose a corner or center position, the number to start counting from, and the font size, then download the numbered file. Everything runs in your browser with pdf-lib, so the PDF never leaves your device.

How to add page numbers to a PDF

  1. Drop a PDF in, or click to browse.
  2. Pick the position, starting number, and font size.
  3. Download the numbered PDF.

Examples

Number a report from page 1

A 12-page report, bottom center, starting at 1, size 12
The same PDF with 1 to 12 stamped along the bottom

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The numbering runs entirely in your browser with pdf-lib. The PDF never leaves your device, so confidential documents stay private.

Can I start numbering from a number other than 1?

Yes. Set the starting number to any whole number and the first page will use that value, counting up by one on each following page.

Where on the page can the number appear?

You can place it in the bottom or top, aligned left, center, or right. That is six positions in total, picked before you download.

Will adding numbers change the rest of my PDF?

No. The original text, images, and layout are untouched. The tool only draws a small number in the margin of each page using a built-in font.

What if my PDF is password protected?

If a PDF opens without a password in your viewer, it will number here. Documents that require a password to open are not supported.
