Frequently asked questions

Does it understand fractions like 1 1/2?

Yes. It reads simple fractions, mixed numbers and decimals, and writes results back as tidy fractions such as 1/2 or 1 1/4 where possible.

What happens to lines without a number?

They pass through unchanged. A line like Pinch of salt or an instruction step is left exactly as you wrote it.

Can I scale by servings instead of a multiplier?

Yes. Enter the recipe's original servings and the number you want, and the multiplier is worked out for you.

Will it convert units, like cups to grams?

No. It scales the amounts in whatever units you used. For unit conversions, use a cooking converter.

Is my recipe private?

Yes. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
