Air Fryer Conversion Calculator

Enter the oven temperature and time from any recipe to get air fryer settings. The standard rule lowers the temperature by 25 F and trims the cook time by roughly a fifth.

How to convert an oven recipe to air fryer

  1. Type the oven temperature from the recipe in Fahrenheit.
  2. Type the oven cook time in minutes.
  3. Read the suggested air fryer temperature and time, then check food early.

Examples

Standard bake

400 F for 20 min
375 F for 16 min

Longer roast

350 F for 45 min
325 F for 36 min

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert oven temperature to air fryer?

Lower the oven temperature by about 25 F. An air fryer circulates hot air more efficiently, so 400 F in the oven becomes roughly 375 F in the air fryer.

How much less time does an air fryer take?

Plan on cutting the cook time by around 20 percent. A dish that bakes for 20 minutes in the oven is usually done in about 16 minutes in an air fryer.

Why do I still need to check food early?

Air fryers vary by model and basket size, and food near the heating element cooks fast. Treat the result as a starting point and check a few minutes before the timer ends.

Do I need to preheat the air fryer?

Many recipes work without preheating, but a 2 to 3 minute preheat helps with crisping. If your recipe assumed a preheated oven, preheat the air fryer too.

Can I use my own reduction values?

Yes. The calculator defaults to a 25 F drop and a 20 percent time cut, but you can set your own values to match how your specific air fryer behaves.
