Air Fryer Conversion Calculator

Enter the oven temperature and cook time from any recipe and get suggested air fryer settings in Fahrenheit, Celsius and minutes. The default rule drops the temperature by 25 F and trims the time by 20 percent, since a fan-driven air fryer heats food faster than a still oven. Both reductions are adjustable if your model runs hot or cool.

How to convert an oven recipe to air fryer

  1. Enter the recipe's oven temperature in the Oven temperature (F) box.
  2. Enter the oven cook time in the Oven time (minutes) box.
  3. Adjust 'Lower temp by (F)' or 'Cut time by (%)' if you want a different rule than the 25 F and 20 percent defaults.
  4. Read the suggested air fryer temperature in Fahrenheit and Celsius and the cook time in minutes.
  5. Click Copy to save the setting, then check your food a few minutes before the timer ends.

Examples

Standard bake

400 F for 20 min
375 F (191 C) for 16 min

Longer roast

350 F for 45 min
325 F (163 C) for 36 min

Hot and fast

425 F for 30 min
400 F (204 C) for 24 min

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert oven temperature to air fryer?

Lower the oven temperature by about 25 F. An air fryer circulates hot air more efficiently than a static oven, so 400 F in the oven becomes roughly 375 F in the air fryer. The tool rounds the result to the nearest 5 F to match how dials and recipes are written.

How much less time does an air fryer take?

Plan on cutting the cook time by around 20 percent. A dish that bakes for 20 minutes in the oven is usually done in about 16 minutes in an air fryer, and a 45 minute roast lands near 36 minutes.

Why do I still need to check food early?

Air fryers vary a lot by model and basket size, and food near the heating element crisps quickly. Treat the suggested time as a starting point and check a few minutes before the timer ends, especially the first time you convert a recipe.

Does it show the temperature in Celsius too?

Yes. Alongside the Fahrenheit figure the tool shows the same temperature in Celsius, rounded to a whole degree, so 375 F is displayed as 191 C. The copy button captures both.

Can I use my own reduction values?

Yes. The 'Lower temp by (F)' and 'Cut time by (%)' fields default to 25 and 20, but you can change them to match how your specific air fryer behaves. Set the temperature drop to 0 if you want to keep the oven temperature and only trim the time.

Do I need to preheat the air fryer?

Many recipes work without preheating, but a 2 to 3 minute preheat helps with crisping and browning. If the original recipe assumed a preheated oven, preheat the air fryer as well for a closer match.

Does the rule work for every food?

It works best for foods that already suit an air fryer, like fries, wings, roasted vegetables and breaded items. Delicate batters, large cakes and saucy dishes convert less reliably, so use the result as guidance and watch the food rather than trusting the timer alone.

Why did I get a warning instead of a result?

The calculator needs an oven time greater than zero and a time cut below 100 percent, otherwise there is no valid cook time to show. Enter a positive time and a percentage under 100 and the settings reappear.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser, so the numbers you enter never leave your device and nothing is stored on a server.
