Frequently asked questions

What is the engagement rate formula?

Engagement rate equals total engagements divided by the base, multiplied by 100. For example, 500 engagements on 10,000 followers is a 5% engagement rate.

Should I use followers or reach as the base?

Engagement rate by followers shows reach into your existing audience, while engagement rate by reach shows how the people who actually saw a post responded. Use this tool to compute either.

What counts as an engagement?

Usually likes, comments, shares and saves. Some teams also count clicks or profile visits. Add up whichever actions you want to track and enter the total.

What is a good engagement rate?

It varies by platform and audience size. Smaller accounts often see higher rates, and 1% to 5% is common on many networks. Compare against your own history and similar accounts.

Is the calculation private?

Yes. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you enter is uploaded or stored.
