Frequently asked questions

What is a conversion rate?

A conversion rate is the share of visitors who complete the action you want, written as a percentage. The formula is conversions divided by visitors, multiplied by 100. For example, 50 conversions from 1,000 visitors is a 5 percent conversion rate.

What counts as a conversion?

A conversion is any action you define as valuable: a purchase, a signup, a form submission, a demo request, an add to cart or a phone call. Pick one primary action per page so the rate stays meaningful, and count each visitor once.

What is a good conversion rate?

It depends heavily on the channel, industry and offer. Many websites land somewhere between 2 and 5 percent, while landing pages with a tight message can do far better. Compare against your own past results rather than a single benchmark.

How can I improve my conversion rate?

Match the page message to the traffic source, sharpen your headline and call to action, cut form fields, add proof such as reviews, and speed up the page. Test one change at a time so you know what actually moved the rate.

What is cost per conversion?

Cost per conversion, sometimes called CPA, is your total spend divided by the number of conversions. It tells you what you paid to win each action. This tool shows it only when you enter spend and there is at least one conversion.

Does this tool send my numbers anywhere?

No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser, so your visitor, spend and revenue figures never leave your device or get stored on a server.
