Frequently asked questions
How is this bold text different from normal bold?
Normal bold is formatting applied on top of ordinary letters, and it vanishes when a site strips styling. This tool swaps in dedicated Unicode characters that already look bold, so the effect survives in plain-text fields like social bios and usernames.
Where can I use Unicode bold text?
Anywhere that accepts Unicode, which is most modern apps: Instagram, TikTok, X, Discord, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and many others. If a field shows emoji correctly, it will usually show these styled letters too.
Why are some characters not styled?
Only letters A to Z and, for some styles, digits 0 to 9 have Unicode variants in these blocks. Spaces, punctuation and symbols pass through unchanged, so a percent sign or parenthesis stays exactly as typed.
Why do my italic numbers stay plain?
The italic and bold italic blocks in Unicode have no styled digits, so 0 to 9 pass through as normal numbers. Bold, monospace and sans bold do include styled digits, which is why Bold 123 shows fancy numbers but italic 2024 does not.
What are the five styles?
Bold and sans bold give a heavy look with styled digits, italic and bold italic give a slanted look with plain digits, and monospace gives an even-width typewriter look with styled digits. Each maps letters to a different Unicode block.
Will screen readers read styled text correctly?
Support varies and some readers skip or mispronounce these characters. Use styled text sparingly for headings or accents rather than long body copy, and keep an unstyled version available where accessibility matters.
Does the character count match the letters I typed?
The letter count matches, but each styled letter is a higher Unicode code point that can take more bytes. The counter shown counts visible characters, so a five letter word still reads as five even though the underlying data is larger.
Can I change styled text back to normal?
This tool only converts one way. Most platforms let you retype in plain text, and because the styled letters are distinct characters, deleting and typing again gives you ordinary text.
Is my text private?
Yes. The conversion runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded, so whatever you type stays on your device.
