Frequently asked questions

How is the percentage score calculated?

It divides the number of correct answers by the total number of questions, then multiplies by 100. So 22 correct out of 25 is 22 divided by 25, which is 88 percent.

What is an EZ grader chart?

It is a quick-reference table showing the score and letter grade for every possible number of wrong answers on a test of a given length. Grade one paper, then read the rest straight off the chart.

What grading scale does it use?

The standard US scale with plus and minus grades: 90 and up is an A, 80s a B, 70s a C, 60s a D and below 60 an F. A plus or minus splits each band into thirds.

Can I count correct answers instead of wrong ones?

Yes. Switch the input mode to enter the number correct and the tool works out the rest. Both modes give the same score and letter grade.

How are repeating decimals rounded?

Scores are rounded to two decimal places. For example 2 out of 3 shows as 66.67 percent. The letter grade is decided from the exact score before rounding.

Do all schools use this scale?

Most are close, but cutoffs vary. Some treat 90 and above as a flat A or skip plus and minus grades, so always check your school's grading policy.
