Frequently asked questions

How is the salary breakup calculated?

Basic is a percent of CTC, HRA is a percent of Basic, and employee and employer PF are each a percent of Basic. Special allowance is the balance of CTC after Basic, HRA and employer PF. Gross is Basic plus HRA plus special allowance, and net is gross minus employee PF and professional tax.

Why is the employer PF not in my take-home pay?

Employer PF is part of your CTC, not your gross salary, so it is set aside before gross is worked out. Only the employee PF and professional tax are subtracted from gross to reach your in-hand pay.

Does it deduct income tax (TDS)?

No. This tool shows the structural breakup and statutory deductions like PF and professional tax. Income tax depends on your regime, exemptions and declarations, so net pay here is before TDS.

Can I change the Basic, HRA or PF percentages?

Yes. The defaults of 50 percent Basic, 50 percent HRA of Basic and 12 percent PF are common, but you can match your own offer letter exactly. Special allowance adjusts automatically and never goes below zero.

Is my salary information private?

Yes. The calculation runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server, stored or logged, so your CTC stays on your device.
