Frequently asked questions

How is pro rata annual leave calculated?

Multiply your full-year entitlement by the share of the year you have worked. If you are entitled to 25 days and have worked half the year, you have accrued 12.5 days. Subtract any leave already taken for your remaining balance.

How do I find the share of the year worked?

Divide the days worked by the days in the year, or use the date option to enter your start and end dates. Half a year is 0.5, a full year is 1. The calculator accepts a percentage too.

How are part days handled?

Results are rounded to two decimal places, so half days like 12.5 are shown exactly. Many employers then round to the nearest half day in line with their policy, so check your handbook.

Can the remaining balance go negative?

Yes. If you have taken more leave than you have accrued so far, the remaining balance shows as a negative number, meaning you are in advance of your accrual.

Is my data private?

Yes. The calculation runs entirely in your browser. Your leave details are never sent to a server or stored.
