Frequently asked questions

How much notice should I give when I resign?

Two weeks is the common default for many roles, but your contract, local law or seniority may require more. Add your agreed notice period in the tool and it states the number of days clearly in the letter.

What should a resignation letter include?

Keep it short: the date, a clear statement that you are resigning from your role at the company, your last working day, a brief thank you and an offer to help with the handover, then your signature. This generator produces exactly that.

Do I have to give a reason for leaving?

No. A reason is optional and many people leave it out. If you add one, keep it short and positive, such as 'to pursue a new opportunity'. The tool only includes a reason when you type one.

What is the difference between the three tones?

Professional is a balanced, courteous letter. Grateful is warmer and longer, with extra thanks and a clear transition offer. Brief is short and to the point for when you just need the essentials on record.

Is my information sent to a server?

No. The letter is built entirely in your browser with JavaScript, so nothing you type is uploaded, saved or shared. Closing the tab clears everything.

Can I download or print the letter?

Yes. You can copy the text to your clipboard, download it as a plain .txt file, or print it directly from the page to sign and hand in.
