Frequently asked questions

What does the onboarding checklist include?

It builds five phases: Before Day 1 (offer signed, equipment ordered, accounts created), Day 1 (welcome, workspace, team intro, HR paperwork), Week 1 (training, tools access, manager 1:1), First 30 Days (goals, feedback, ramp-up), and First 90 Days (a performance check-in). Each phase is a list of checkbox tasks you can tailor.

Can I add my own tasks?

Yes. Add any custom task and pick the phase it belongs to, and it is merged into that phase. If you choose a phase name the tool does not recognize, the task is kept in an Additional Tasks section so nothing you add is lost.

How do the remote setup and compliance toggles work?

Turning on remote setup adds an equipment-shipping and home office task to Before Day 1, useful for distributed hires. Turning on compliance training adds a mandatory compliance and security training task to Week 1. Leave them off and those tasks are omitted.

Is my data sent to a server or stored anywhere?

No. The checklist is generated entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you type, including the employee name, role, or custom tasks, is uploaded, logged, or saved. Closing the tab clears it.

What format is the download?

The checklist downloads as a Markdown (.md) file using - [ ] checkbox syntax grouped by phase. It pastes cleanly into tools like Notion, GitHub, Linear, or any Markdown editor, where the boxes render as a real interactive checklist.

Does this replace a formal onboarding program?

It is a fast starting point, not a complete HR program. The default tasks cover common onboarding steps, but you should adapt them to your company policies, role requirements, and local employment rules, and review the result before using it.
