How to convert a shoe size

Frequently asked questions
How accurate are these conversions?
They follow the common retailer charts derived from the Brannock device, so they are a close starting point. Fit still varies by brand, last shape and shoe style, so check the maker's own size guide before you buy when you can.
What does the CM value mean?
It is the approximate length of your foot in centimetres, not the length of the shoe. Standing on a ruler or a printed Brannock chart and matching the CM column is often the most reliable way to size, especially for brands that publish foot length rather than a regional number.
Why are some EU sizes shown with a half?
EU sizing uses Paris points and does not line up evenly with US half sizes, so a value like 42.5 is simply the nearest standard EU size for that US size. Many EU shoes are only made in whole and half sizes, so you may need to round to what the brand actually stocks.
Do men's and women's charts differ?
Yes, and the gap is significant. For the same US number the women's UK, EU and CM equivalents are all different from the men's, so a men's US 8 and a women's US 8 are not the same shoe. Always set the men or women toggle first.
Why can I only pick certain sizes?
The size menu is populated straight from the conversion table for the gender and system you chose, so it shows only the sizes that have a defined match. If a value is missing it means the chart does not list that exact half size, and you should round to the closest option shown.
Which size ranges are covered?
The men's chart runs from US 6 to US 15 and the women's chart from US 5 to US 12, with the matching UK, EU and CM values for each. Sizes outside those ranges are not listed, so very small or very large sizes will not appear.
How should I handle half sizes and wide feet?
When your true fit sits between two listed sizes, most people size up rather than down for length, then rely on lacing or an insole for a snug hold. This tool converts length only and does not model width, so a wide or narrow foot may still need a brand that offers width options.
Can I convert from centimetres too?
Yes. Choose CM (foot length) as the system you know and enter the measured length, and the tool returns the matching US, UK and EU sizes. This is handy for many Japanese and Korean brands that print foot length in centimetres on the box.
