What counts as the start of a sentence?
The very beginning of the text, plus the first letter that follows a period, question mark or exclamation mark and any spaces after it. That letter is capitalized and everything else in the word is lowercased.
Does it capitalize the word I?
Yes. The standalone pronoun i is always uppercased to I, and the same applies inside contractions such as i'm, i've and i'll, so first-person writing reads correctly.
Are my line breaks and spacing kept?
Yes. Newlines, indentation and the spaces between words are preserved exactly, so paragraphs, lists and stanzas stay laid out the way you pasted them.
How are runs of end marks like ?! handled?
A run of terminators such as ?! or !!! is treated as one sentence ending. The punctuation is left in place and the next letter is capitalized just once.
Will it fix names, brands and acronyms?
No. It has no dictionary, so lowercase names like paris, brands, and acronyms such as nasa or ceo stay lowercase after conversion. Capitalize proper nouns yourself once the sentence structure is fixed.
What about abbreviations with periods, like Mr. or a.m.?
The period inside an abbreviation looks like a sentence end, so the following letter gets capitalized. For example 'mr. lee' becomes 'Mr. Lee' and '9 a.m. thanks' becomes '9 a.M. Thanks'. Review abbreviations after converting.
Does it change my punctuation, numbers or symbols?
No. Only letter casing is altered. Periods, commas, digits, emoji and other symbols are passed through unchanged in their original positions.
How is this different from title case or capitalize each word?
Sentence case capitalizes only the first word of each sentence and the pronoun I, which suits body text and paragraphs. Title case capitalizes most words and is meant for headings. Use a title case converter when you want every major word capitalized.
