Pig Latin Translator
Paste English text and this translator rewrites each word into Pig Latin as you type. Words that start with a consonant have their whole leading consonant cluster moved to the end, followed by ay, while words that start with a vowel simply gain way. Spaces, digits and punctuation stay exactly where they are, and a capital first letter carries over to the translated word.

Frequently asked questions
What are the exact rules this translator uses?
Two rules. If a word begins with a vowel (a, e, i, o, u), it keeps its spelling and gets way added to the end, so egg becomes eggway. Otherwise every leading consonant up to the first vowel is moved to the end and ay is added, so smile becomes ilesmay and string becomes ingstray.
Does it use way or yay for vowel words?
It always uses way. Vowel-initial words like apple and egg become appleway and eggway. Some Pig Latin variants add yay or hay instead, but this tool consistently appends way, so the output stays predictable.
How are consonant clusters handled?
The whole cluster before the first vowel moves together, not just the first letter. So string moves str to give ingstray, and brown moves br to give ownbray. This matches the common school-yard rule for blends.
Does it keep capital letters?
It preserves the case of the first letter only. If the original word started with a capital, the translated word is capitalized and the remaining letters are lowercased, so Hello becomes Ellohay. It does not preserve all-caps or mid-word capitals.
Are punctuation and numbers preserved?
Yes. Only runs of A to Z letters are translated, so spaces, digits, commas, apostrophes and other punctuation stay exactly where they were. In do you? the question mark is untouched and only the words change.
What happens to a word with no vowels?
A letter run with no vowel at all just gets ay added to the end, since there is no vowel to move the consonants in front of. For example nth becomes nthay.
How does it treat the letter y?
The letter y is treated as a consonant, not a vowel. So a word starting with y follows the consonant rule, and a y in the middle of a word can end the leading cluster only if it comes after an actual vowel, never on its own.
Is there a length limit?
There is no fixed cap. The whole box is translated in your browser, and even long passages convert instantly. A live character counter next to the output shows the length of the Pig Latin result.
Is my text private?
Yes. The translation runs entirely in your browser and nothing you type is uploaded or stored on a server.
