Frequently asked questions

How many inches is one MOA at 100 yards?

One true minute of angle covers 1.047 inches at 100 yards. Many shooters round this to 1 inch, but this calculator uses the precise 1.047 value so longer distances stay accurate.

How is the inches at distance figured?

Inches equals MOA times 1.047 times distance in yards divided by 100. For 2 MOA at 200 yards that is 2 x 1.047 x 2 = 4.188 inches of movement at the target.

How many scope clicks do I need?

Clicks equal the MOA value divided by your turret click value. With a common quarter MOA turret, 2 MOA is 2 / 0.25 = 8 clicks. Set the click value to match your scope.

What is the difference between true MOA and shooter MOA?

True MOA is 1.047 inches at 100 yards, the real angular value. Shooter MOA, or inch MOA, rounds to exactly 1 inch at 100 yards. The gap grows with distance, so this tool uses true MOA.

What click value should I use?

Check your scope. Most hunting and target turrets adjust in quarter MOA, so 0.25 per click. Some use half MOA at 0.5 or eighth MOA at 0.125. Enter the value printed on your turret.
