What goes in a vehicle bill of sale?
Switch the item type to Vehicle and you can record the make, model, year, VIN, and odometer reading alongside the sale price and parties. Many states require these details, plus an odometer disclosure, before a private car sale can be registered, so the vehicle mode collects them in one place.
What does the 'as-is' clause do?
Ticking as-is adds an 'as-is, where-is' statement that sells the item with all faults and no warranty, express or implied. It tells the buyer they have inspected the item and accept its current condition. Leave it unticked to instead state that the item is in good working condition to the seller's knowledge.
Why is the amount written out in words?
The price appears both as a figure and spelled out, for example 12,500.00 reads as 'Twelve thousand five hundred and 00/100'. Writing the amount in words is a long-standing practice that makes the document harder to alter and easier to read at a glance.
Can I download or print the bill of sale?
Yes. You can copy the text, download it as a plain .txt file to keep or email, or use the print button to save it as a PDF through your browser's print dialog. After printing, both the seller and buyer sign the signature lines by hand.
