Scan a QR Code From an Image

Drop in a screenshot or photo of a QR code and read what it contains. This tool decodes the code in your browser, then recognizes the content type, so a WiFi code shows the network and password, a contact code shows the name and number, and a link is ready to open. Nothing is uploaded; the image is read entirely on your device.

How to scan a QR code from an image

  1. Drop in an image of a QR code, or click to browse for one.
  2. Read the decoded text and its detected type, such as WiFi or a link.
  3. Copy the result, or open the link if the code is a URL.

Examples

Decode a WiFi QR code

WIFI:T:WPA;S:HomeNet;P:secret123;;
WiFi network: HomeNet, password secret123

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The QR code is decoded entirely in your browser. The image is read on your device and never uploaded, so even codes that contain a WiFi password or contact details stay private.

What kinds of QR codes can it read?

Any standard QR code. On top of decoding the raw text, it recognizes common content types and lays them out for you: links, WiFi networks, contact cards (vCard), email, SMS, phone numbers and map locations. Anything else is shown as plain text.

It says no QR code was found. What now?

Make sure the QR code is fully inside the image, reasonably sharp, and not heavily rotated or cropped. Photos with glare, blur or a tilted angle can fail to decode. Try a flatter, higher-contrast image, ideally a screenshot of the code.

Can I scan a WiFi QR code to get the password?

Yes. If the image holds a WiFi QR code, the tool shows the network name, the password and the encryption type, so you can read or copy the password from a printed or on-screen code.

Does it use my camera?

No. This tool reads a QR code from an image file you already have, such as a screenshot, photo or download. It does not request camera access, which keeps it usable on any device and fully private.
