Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The AI model runs entirely in your browser with WebAssembly. The image is processed on your device and never uploaded. Only the model itself is downloaded, once.
Why does the first run take a moment?
The AI model (about 44 MB) downloads the first time you use the tool, then is cached for instant reuse. Larger images also take a little longer to process.
How is this different from the color background remover?
The other tool removes a single color you pick, which is great for solid backgrounds. This one uses an AI model to find the subject, so it works on busy, real-world photos where there is no single background color.
Can I put the subject on a colored background?
Yes. Choose a transparent background for a PNG cutout, or pick a solid color to composite the subject onto.
What works best?
Photos with a clear main subject (a person, product, or animal) work best. Very low resolution or subjects that blend into the background are harder.
