How to crop an image
- Drop an image onto the drop zone, or click to browse. PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF and BMP are accepted.
- The crop box opens as a centered selection. Drag inside it to reposition, or pull any of the four corner handles to resize.
- To keep fixed proportions, click an aspect ratio such as 1:1, 16:9 or 4:3 and the box holds that shape as you resize. Choose Free for any shape.
- Check the live readout under the image (for example "Crop: 1200 x 1200 px at (200, 0)") to confirm the exact region.
- Pick an output format (PNG, JPEG or WebP). For JPEG or WebP, set the quality slider from 5 to 100 percent.
- Click Download crop to save the file, which keeps the original name with a -cropped suffix added.

Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding, cropping and encoding all run in your browser with the Canvas API. The image never leaves your device, so private photos stay private.
Which aspect ratios can I lock?
1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 2:3 and 9:16. When you pick one, the box snaps to the largest crop of that shape centered on the image and keeps the shape while you resize. Choose Free to crop to any proportions.
What image formats can I open and export?
You can open PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF and BMP. You can export PNG, JPEG or WebP. PNG and WebP keep transparency; JPEG fills any transparent areas with white.
Does cropping lower the quality or resolution?
No. Every pixel inside the box is kept at full resolution, so the output is exactly as wide and tall as the region you selected. Cropping never enlarges or upscales the image.
Can I crop to an exact pixel region?
Drag to get close, then read the live text under the image, which shows the crop as width x height and its top-left position in whole pixels. The box always snaps to whole pixels with a minimum of 1 pixel on each side.
What do the quality settings do?
For JPEG and WebP a slider sets compression from 5 to 100 percent, trading file size against detail. PNG is lossless and has no quality slider. The output file size is shown before you download.
What happens if I crop an animated GIF?
The image is drawn to a canvas as a single still frame, so an animated GIF is treated as one static picture. The crop is exported as PNG, JPEG or WebP, not as an animation.
How do I start over with a different photo?
Click New image at the top to clear the current file and its crop, then drop or browse for another one. Nothing is retained between images.
Do I need an account or internet connection?
No account is needed. After the page loads the tool works locally, so a crop still completes even if your connection drops.
