Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate square footage?

Multiply the length by the width of each space in feet, then add the rooms together. For a 10 by 12 foot room that is 120 square feet.

Can I measure in inches, meters or yards?

Yes. Pick your unit and the calculator converts each dimension to feet first, so a 120 by 120 inch room correctly comes out to 100 square feet.

How do I find the total for multiple rooms?

Add a row for each room and enter its length and width. The tool sums every space so you get one combined square footage figure.

How many square feet are in a square meter?

One square meter is about 10.76 square feet, and one square foot is about 0.0929 square meters. The result shows both units side by side.

How do I handle an L shaped or odd room?

Split it into rectangles, enter each part as its own row, and the calculator adds the pieces into a single total square footage.
