Frequently asked questions
What is a good swim pace per 100 metres?
It varies widely. Many fitness swimmers hold around 2:00 per 100 m, while competitive swimmers go well under 1:30. Compare your pace to your own past swims.
Is pace measured per 100 metres or per 100 yards?
This tool uses metres. If you swam in a yard pool, the pace is still computed per 100 of the distance unit you enter as metres.
How do I convert pace to total time for a set?
Multiply your pace per 100 m by the number of hundreds in the set. A 2:00 pace over 400 m gives an 8:00 swim.
What does the speed in metres per second mean?
It is the distance you swam divided by your total time in seconds, giving a single figure you can compare across swims.
Can I use this for open water swims?
Yes. Enter the distance and time for any swim, pool or open water, to get the pace per 100 metres.
