Audio Reverser (Play Audio Backwards)
Flip an audio file so it plays backwards, right here in your browser. Drop in an MP3, WAV, M4A, or OGG and the tool reverses every sample, then hands you a preview you can play immediately. It is great for reverse-cymbal swells, hidden-message effects, sound design, or just hearing what a track sounds like in reverse. Everything happens on your device, nothing is uploaded, and the reversed clip downloads as a WAV.
How to reverse an audio file
- Drop in an audio file, or click to browse for one.
- The clip is reversed instantly in your browser.
- Preview the backwards audio, then download it as a WAV file.
Examples
Reverse-cymbal swell
cymbal.wav (a crash that decays)
A WAV that swells up into the hit, perfect to lead into a downbeat.
Frequently asked questions
Is my audio uploaded anywhere?
No. Nothing is uploaded. The file is decoded and reversed entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API, so it never leaves your device. The reversed clip is then encoded and downloaded locally.
What audio formats can I reverse?
MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, and other common audio files all work, because the browser decodes them before reversing. You can also drop in the audio track of an MP4 or WebM video. The output is always a WAV file.
Does reversing change the audio quality?
No. Reversing just plays the exact same samples in the opposite order, so no information is lost. The only difference in the download is that it is a WAV, which is uncompressed and keeps full quality.
Will reversing it again restore the original?
Yes. Reversing a clip twice returns it to the original order sample for sample. If you reverse a file here and then reverse the result, you get the forward audio back.
Does it reverse stereo correctly?
Yes. Each channel is reversed on its own and the channels stay perfectly aligned, so stereo and multichannel files reverse cleanly without any left-right drift.
