Frequently asked questions

How is resin cost calculated?

Resin is sold by the liter, which is 1000 ml. Cost equals volume in ml divided by 1000, times the price per liter. Price per ml is the liter price divided by 1000.

Where do I find the milliliters used?

MSLA slicers like Lychee, ChiTuBox and Photon Workshop show the estimated resin volume in milliliters after slicing a plate.

Does this include wasted resin in the vat?

No. It prices the model volume only. Failed prints, supports and resin lost to cleaning add real cost, so add a margin if you need a true per-part price.

Why is resin priced per liter not per kg?

Resin is dispensed by volume from the vat and sold by the bottle in liters, so volume pricing matches how it is used and measured.

Should I include supports in the volume?

Yes. The slicer volume already counts supports and rafts, so the estimate reflects the resin actually cured for the print.
