Which zodiac system does this use?
The common western, or tropical, zodiac with the twelve signs from Aries to Pisces and their standard date ranges.
What if my birthday is on the cusp?
Dates that fall on a boundary are assigned to the sign whose range includes that day. Sources differ by a day at the edges, so a cusp birthday may read either sign elsewhere.
Why does Capricorn cross into the new year?
Capricorn runs from December 22 to January 19, so it spans the year boundary. The calculator handles that wrap, so late December and early January both return Capricorn.
What is the element for?
Each sign belongs to one of four elements, Fire, Earth, Air or Water, which astrology uses to group signs with similar qualities.
