SaaS Pricing Tier Builder
Model your SaaS pricing in one place. Add each plan with its monthly price and customer count to see total MRR and ARR, blended ARPU, the revenue share of every tier and which plan actually drives the most revenue. Add an annual discount to compare yearly prices.
How to model your pricing tiers
- Add each plan with a name, monthly price and number of customers on it.
- Optionally set an annual discount to see the discounted yearly price per plan.
- Read off total MRR, ARR, blended ARPU and the tier that drives the most revenue.
Examples
Three tiers: Basic, Pro, Business
Basic $9 x 100, Pro $29 x 50, Business $99 x 10
Total MRR = $3,340, ARR = $40,080, blended ARPU = $20.88, top revenue tier = Pro
With a 20% annual discount
Basic $9 / month, 20% off annual
Annual price = $86.40 (9 x 12 x 0.8)
Frequently asked questions
How is the revenue share of each tier calculated?
Each tier's monthly revenue is its monthly price multiplied by its number of customers. The revenue share is that tier's monthly revenue divided by the total MRR across all tiers, shown as a percent. The shares add up to 100 percent.
What is blended ARPU and how is it worked out?
Blended ARPU is the average revenue per user across every plan combined. It is total MRR divided by total customers, so a large free or cheap tier pulls the blended figure down even when premium plans are pricey.
Why is the most popular tier different from the highest revenue tier?
The most popular tier is the one with the most customers, while the highest revenue tier is the one bringing in the most monthly revenue. A cheap plan can have the most customers yet a pricier plan with fewer customers can still earn more, which is common in SaaS.
How does the annual discount affect the price?
The annual price is the monthly price times twelve, then reduced by the discount you set. A 20 percent annual discount on a $9 plan gives 9 x 12 x 0.8 = $86.40 per year, which is the figure customers pay when they commit annually.
Can I include a free tier?
Yes. Set the monthly price to zero. The free tier still counts toward total customers and the most popular tier, but it adds nothing to MRR, which lowers your blended ARPU.
Is my pricing data private?
Yes. Every calculation runs entirely in your browser. Your prices and customer counts are never uploaded, stored or shared.
