Frequently asked questions

How are parlay odds calculated?

With decimal odds you multiply every leg together. A parlay of 1.5, 2.0, and 1.8 has combined odds of 1.5 times 2.0 times 1.8, which is 5.40. Your payout is the stake times that combined number, and your profit is the payout minus the stake.

What are decimal odds?

Decimal odds show the total return per unit staked, including your stake back. Odds of 2.0 return 2 units for every 1 wagered, so a winning $10 bet returns $20. To convert fractional odds like 5/1, add 1 to get 6.0; to convert American odds, a +150 is 2.50 and a -200 is 1.50.

Why does the payout grow so fast as I add legs?

Because the odds multiply rather than add. Each extra leg scales the whole figure, so a fourth or fifth leg can turn a small stake into a large payout. The flip side is that every leg must win, so the implied probability shrinks just as quickly.

What is the implied probability of a parlay?

It is the break-even chance the whole ticket needs to win, equal to 1 divided by the combined odds. Combined odds of 5.40 imply about 18.5 percent. This ignores the bookmaker margin built into each leg, so the real chance is usually lower.

Does this calculator include my stake in the payout?

Yes. The total payout is the full amount returned to you on a winning ticket, stake included, because decimal odds already bake the stake back into the figure. The profit line shows the winnings on top of your stake.
